Goodbye to a Friend

Today we had to say goodbye to out little dog, Jazzy. We got Jazzy when Lexi was only 6 months old. She has been a member of our family and my kids just love her. Jazzy was one of the first words Bracken ever said. Lexi and Bracken love to chase her around the house and play with her. She was such a sweet little dog. Today she was hit and killed by a car in front of our house. She will be greatly missed in our family. Lexi is really sad, but she has her collar and tag hanging on a peg in her room now. She really loves her puppy. When she was 18 months old the only way we could get her to smile for her Christmas picture was to put Jazzy on her lap. She loved to take Jazzy for walks and we had to make a rule of no leash on in the house or else that poor dog would have been hooked to Lexi 24 hours a day. When she first learned to ride her bike she used to hook Jazzy's leash to the handle bars and just ride back and forth with her. They were the best of friends. I don't know that I have ever seen Lexi understand death like she did today. She sobbed the most mournful tears I have ever seen a 4-year-old cry. She has been planning Jazzy's 5th birthday party that she was going to have next month. I have never been an animal lover, but this dog was so much more than an animal to us. We love her and will miss her.

That made me sad to read. I remember you telling me how much Lexi loved that dog. Oh, I have to tell you Max asked me about Lexi the other day. He remembers how much fun he always had with her.

Sorry to hear about your dog. I remember when I was a kid our Guinea Pig died and we had a little funeral for him. My brother and I cried our heads off and my dad couldn't help but cry also. I hope Lexi will feel better soon.

Oh, I am so sorry. That is a really hard thing to go through. Especially to see Lexi cry, It breaks my heart. Yeah the 11th of December just isn't a good day, that's when I was born. Darren is just going to have to make another batch of those wicked awesome cookie we keep talking about

Well we would love to hang out with you, but we aren't rich enough for snobs. I guess we will just have to lie about it just so we can see ya. Darren says just don't tell her the food out of the garbage is delicous

I remember that Christmas when Lexi wouldn't smile and then right when you put Jazzy on her lap she had the biggest most precious smile. We are so sorry for your loss. Jazzy was a very good dog and she was so cute.

I am so sorry...I have never been a huge animal person, but I can imagine that would be hard. Give Lexi a hug and kiss, hope she is doing okay.

That's so hard. I always saw my dogs as invincible, and forget that they are even more fragile than us. It is so hard to loose them, but I just am so thankful for the joy they can bring to your life. I hope Lexi feels better soon!

Oh this makes me so sad! It totally brought back how we felt when Dusty died. Whenever my doorbell rings, I still expect to hear her running and barking. We had her before kids. My sisters dog just had puppies that will be ready just before Christmas (and I am half tempted to buy one of them for Lexi), and we are just now at the point where we can have another puppy. They are such a huge part of your family and they leave such a hole. Seriously, those who have never had a dog just don't understand how much a part of your life they become.

I am so sorry Cami.

I'm so sorry! Poor Lexi, I feel so bad for her. We miss you! My kids still ask where "Lexi and Bracken" are. Let me know when you have free time, if that even exists!

That is so sad. What a hard thing for your kids to learn at such a young age. That is horrible. I hope that they cry and cry until they feel better. That breaks my heart that Lexi was planning a birthday party. So sad. Give her a big hug!

I haven't been looking at blogs lately and I can't believe Jazzy is gone! I am so sorry for you and your kids, she was a great dog, we loved her too! I am also sorry that the loss of Jazzy was followed by such a rough week of throwing up and naughty kids! Hang in there!
