In Loving Memory

There are people that come into your life that will leave a lifelong impression on you. John Carter was one of those people to me. John was killed yesterday in a plane wreck while traveling to Guatemala to provide humanitarian support. I first met John 12 years ago. His wife, Lisa, and I have been friends for at least that long. These two wonderful people have been two of my best friends and a huge part of my life. We have spent a lot of time together. There are periods of time in my life where I don’t have a single memory that doesn’t involve the two of them. I was with them the day they got married. I was with them the day their first child was born. With many more memories before, during, and after these events. John was the person who “tried” to teach me to snowboard. I gave up after the first try when the next morning I woke up and muscles in my body hurt that I didn’t even know I had. He was my partner on the Screamer at Lagoon when everyone else got motion sickness. He was not just my “best friend’s husband” or “my boyfriend’s brother-in-law”…he was a big brother to me. I couldn’t have felt closer to him that I do my own brothers. He taught me many things in my life and there are many memories that will be forever stamped in my mind. Lisa, John, and I spent a lot of time traveling many places. We went to Park City, boating, four wheeling, St. George, golfing, Swiss Days, the demolition derby, Flaming Gorge, and last but CERTAINLY not least…John, Lisa, and I spent a week in New York having the time of our life!!! We visited the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building, Times Square, Les Miserables on Broadway, rode the subway, visited the New York Stock Exchange, and spent the week in a hotel with the narrowest halls you have ever seen in your life. For two years I spent nearly every weekend at their house. We went to dinner, movies, and shopping together. I sat with Lisa at John’s indoor soccer games. In fact, John even banned me from picking movies ever again after my weekend selection was the Lifetime Movie, “A Face To Die For.” We had a relationship that felt more like family than friends. John and Lisa have been a big part of my life for as long as I can nearly imagine. I love them both so much and I will greatly miss this wonderful man. He was a true humanitarian. There was nothing he wouldn’t do for someone else. He was a wonderful father, husband, and friend. He meant a lot to many people. My prayers are with his sweet wife and their three beautiful children. My heart aches tonight as I think of how much he will be missed. We love you, John!

A Night at the County Fair

Every year my family goes up to the rodeo at the Box Elder County Fair in Tremonton. It is always something to look forward to. Lexi was going to ride the sheep in it this year, but we found out you have 6 years old. So she will have to wait a few years. She settled for the mechanical bull instead. It is always a good time with lots of fun.

Lexi's Hair-Do

Lexi is currently growing her hair out (despite the fact that she gave herself her first haircut a few weeks ago). She REALLY hates to get her hair done and this is the source of much contention in our home. Well...I was looking at Steph's blog today and jumped over to her cute hair do blogs. I found TONS of really cute hair styles. I knew that I could show them to Lexi and show her that Tess let her mom do it, I could coax her into letting me do it and VOILA...it worked!!! I am not nearly the pro that Stephanie is, but we tried. Lexi picked out her own hair do and requested that her picture be on the computer like Tess did. Thanks Steph! She wants me to try more tomorrow!!!! Here is my little darling!
