Valentine's Day

So I know I am a week late with this post, but hey...that is my life.

Ever since I was in high school every year for Valentine's Day my mom has made each person in our family a BIG pink heart cookie with our name written on it. She is such a trooper as our family has now grown to the huge number of 21 (which is a lot when we are talking about making big sugar cookies!) This year she had shoulder surgery a week before Valentine's Day and was on vacation the week before that and planning my sister's wedding (which is TODAY!!!) But do you think that could stop the tradition... NOPE! She arranged everything and enlisted my dad's help to make sure the tradition continues. Now these are not just regular sugar cookies with pink frosting, my brother Jeff coined the term (sorry for the profanity, his words...not mine) "Big Ass Cookies." Anyone who has hung around my parents house around Valentine's Day for the past 10 or so years has coveted the "Big A Cookies" (what the rest of us call them...except my dad who still settles for "Big Pink Cookies" and disappointedly looks at the rest of us when we use the other two terms). It is a fun tradition and one I hope mom keeps up on as our family continually grows. The best part of it is that they deliver them to our houses to see us on V-Day as well and with 21 big cookies, that takes multiple trips around to each of our houses. Love you mom!!!

Here are my parents and the kids with their cookies

Here is what a 2-year-old looks like when their hero (his grandpa) has to leave to deliver cookies to the other grandkids.

What a great shout out to Mom for V-Day! She is amazing, we are probably some of the luckiest kids ever. (hmmm...maybe I should start making my kids some big A cookies for St. Patty's Day, then my kids would think I was the best!) Love the tantrum from Brackie, PRICELESS!

What a fun tradition! Maybe I'll be that good of a gramdma.

I especially loved the reaction when grandpa left.Bracken is so cute. . . even when he is sad.

That's an awesome tradition. Your mom is quite the trooper. I love your name for the cookies too. I think it's hilarious. Only in my family, my dad would be the one laughing at it while my mom would look disappointed in us.:)

The scene with Bracken at the front door when they left looks very familiar!:) Your kids are adorable! You should come visit sometime! We'd love to see you!

I just love that grandpa is his hero. I get the same thing when we leave my parents house. I swear she wishes she lived there. Are you going to continue the tradition with your family?
